Why American Golf Fans Will Be Seeing A Lot More of "Beef" Johnston

If you're a fan of Andrew "Beef" Johnston (And let's be honest, who isn't?) and you live in the U.S., there's good news. BEEF is coming back to America. For an extended stay.

No, the popular Englishman is not a member of the PGA Tour yet, but it appears he's taking another step toward that by playing in the Web.com Tour Finals, a four-event series that begins at the inaugural DAP Championship Sept. 8-11. Unless he's confusing Cantebury Country Club in Cleveland, Ohio, with Cantebury, England.

The top 75 on the Web.com Tour money list and Nos. 125-200 on the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup standings are eligible for the Web.com Tour Finals, in which 25 PGA Tour cards for next season are up for grabs in addition to the 25 tour cards already earned by the top 25 on the Web.com Tour's regular season money list (those golfers still compete in the Finals to improve their priority ranking for next season). Johnson qualifies for the field since he was a non-PGA Tour member who would have finished between Nos. 126 and 200 on the FedEx Cup points list. Two other golfers in that category who are also competing in the Web.com Tour Finals are Bryson DeChambeau and Kiradech Aphibarnrat.

Johnston, 27, earned his first European Tour title in April and finished T-8 at the Open Championship.

"You want to play the best tournaments in the world where you can," Johnston said when asked about playing more in the U.S. during the PGA Championship. "That's the goal is to play the biggest and best tournaments, and they happen to have a lot of them here. I like coming over and that. So obviously if I'm in there more, I'm going to be over more. It's quite straightforward."

And if he plays well in the U.S. over the next few weeks, it looks like we'll see a lot more Beef Golf over here next year.
