OUR HISTORY

In order to know where we are going, it's important to know where it is we came from.  With this in mind read a little on our history as well as learn a little more about us.

The Lowville Golf Club was originally built in 1973 by the Gudgeon Family who had lived on the family farm that was converted into the new golf course.  The Gudgeon family had local roots and where well known and respected in Lowville as well as other local communities.  They understood the newfound popularity of the game and the opportunity for growth that laid ahead as the forged into the new business of golf.  They successfully operated the Golf Course as a family business until 1998, at which time it was sold to its current ownership group that operates it today.

The Current General Manager, Sandy White has a stake in this ownership group and oversees operations of the facility for them.  He has done so since its inception in 1998 when the golf course was completely revamped in the first year of the new ownership to bring it up to date.  Renowned Architect Dick Kirkpatrick transformed Lowville Golf Club into one of the gems of Southern Ontario.  The natural beauty of the property has been combined with a continued commitment to creating a design to please all levels of golf.  Our new green construction has produced a putting surface that will rival the area's best.  Postcard scenery, challenging golf, friendly staff and affordable prices have made us a must on your golf calendar.

In 2005 another major project was taken on by the ownership group and a brand new clubhouse was constructed.  Our tasteful new clubhouse will now accommodate banquets of up to 150 people and the versatility of our building allows us to cater to groups as small as 8 to as large as 150 in comfortable cozy settings. Beautiful escarpment views of Mt. Nemo and Rattlesnake Point will compliment any function. Golf/Cart/Meal packages begin at $64.99 p.p. We provide a unique experience at an affordable price.

In 2012 another major construction project was completed. After struggling for decades with insufficient water holding ponds, Lowville was finally given permission from the Halton region conservation authority, Niagara escarpment commission, the City of Burlington & the ministry of natural resources to build a reservoir to ensure proper irrigation for the property.

It is quite obvious that the current management philosophy is to not rest on what we have done in the past, but to continue to forge ahead in the future.  Our committment is to ensure we remain a leader in all areas of our business with a focus on the most important thing, YOU!!

We are continually striving to make Lowville your preferred golf destination!

Year in and Year out, Lowville Golf Club is voted the “Most Scenic Golf Course in the G.T.A.". Our clubhouse and patio (open daily to the public) offers magnificent views of Mt.Nemo and Rattlesnake Point. It is easy to see why this is truly one of the most beautiful golf course settings in Ontario!

Our goal is to provide great daily green fee rates, affordable memberships, reasonably priced dining and a modern tournament and banquet facility.  Our friendly, helpful staff work hard to ensure you enjoy the day. Subject: A wonderful round

Message: I was fortunate enough to be able to take yesterday afternoon off to enjoy a round of golf. I decided to play Lowville because I love the views and the price is quite reasonable. I just wanted to send a quick note to your greens department to commend them on the course conditions. Despite a challenging spring with reduced maintenance and staff, the place was in great condition. The turf looked healthy, the previous season's sod and bunker work were maturing and blending nicely and the rough is nice and THICK!! Please pass on my message of kudos to the greens department. I also want to commend you on your program of SOPs to keep clients and staff safe. From my arrival to my final putt on the 18th I did not experience a single moment where I felt at risk of exposure or risk. Congratulations on your successful opening and best of luck to you all in this very bizarre and strange year.

Sincerely,

Cam Shaw

Subject: Thank-you

Wanted to express our appreciation for the sensitive and caring manner in which my injury was handled this past Sunday, Sep. 22nd - I was golfing with my son when a stray golf ball struck my right arm - your staff were very attentive and called an ambulance so that the paramedics could assess the injury and whether it required immediate attention - they did not think it was a fracture but advised that I go the emergency department of a hospital to make sure - did so, and was told that there was no fracture and that the swelling would go down and it would heal itself - again, my appreciation in the professional and caring manner in which this was handled -

Subject: Thank you

Message: I’d like to pass on a huge thank you to your course marshal Bill Nelson (I think!). He helped me find my lost cellphone today. This is my work phone and being in the Service industry for my company is something that is super critical to me and my role. Bill showed an unrelenting commitment to helping me find my lost phone that you rarely see. I am super appreciative of his efforts and that certainly reflects on my feelings not only of him but the Lowville Golf course. Thank you so much. Trevor

Hi Sandy,

Just a quick email to confirm our phone conversation from earlier this week. The Knights of Columbus have reserved Lowville Golf Club for Friday, September 15, 2017, for our annual golf tournament.

We did a survey of the golfers that attended the tournament last September and they rated the course, food and facilities as excellent so thank you very much to you and your staff for helping make the tournament a great success!

Best regards,

Sandy:  A wonderful dinner please let the chef know!

Last evening a group of 6 of us took part in your Nine and Dine. Although we have participated in many throughout the region I had not yet played at Lowville. I want to say that that was one of the best dinners I have had. The pork was delicious, cooked perfectly and nicely complemented with the sauces. Please extend our thanks and congratulations to your chef and their staff on an amazing meal.

Hello Sandy,

Thank you so much for all of your help and support for our QEW / Alzheimer’s Golf tournament. Your generosity, advice, and support were deeply appreciated and gave us the confidence in knowing that “a master” was at our disposal to help our event stay on track. The course was in great shape, the staff friendly, the clubhouse beautiful and functional, and the weather you arranged was fantastic. Having said that, do you have the same Tuesday in September available next year? I would also like to get your recommendation on how many golfers you would recommend as a maximum. Our intent is to send thank you letters to all of our sponsors and participants from this year along with a “hold the date” (and the donation budget) for next year. Thanks again Sandy,

Hi Sandy.

Thank you and your staff for all of your assistance in making the day a huge success. It was certainly my best experience in the seven years I have been involved in this event and the feedback from the golfers was also very positive. I will be meeting with the committee early next week and run the date by them and then confirm with you.

We are already rebooked with Lowville for next year and we are already excited about coming back.To 2014 at Lowville!!!

Well, the dust has finally settled & our house is empty again. Ashley & Wayne are honeymooning on a cruise in Northern Europe.I wanted to tell you what a wonderful evening we & all our guests had. Sandy & Staff

Thanks for a great luncheon today after our golf game - perfect menu!  The sweet potato fries were much appreciated by the 'gypsies' as they came off the course.  And the servers took such good care of us.  Thank you for helping to make it a great day!

Sandy:

...thanks very much for your support and gracious hospitality for our recent Bachelor Party/Golf tournament this past Saturday.  The entire day was thoroughly enjoyed by all of our guests, and clearly – you and the staff at Lowville Golf Club made that difference.  We look forward to seeing you again soon, and will not hesitate to recommend your facility to any others in our respective networks – looking for a first-class venue for similar significant and special occasions.  Jeff – you made our organizing job that much easier and we thank you for that.

All of you were very accommodating.

I can't thank you and your staff enough for yesterday's event at Lowville! Everything went off without a hitch and we all had an amazing time! Please also recognize Arn(?) the marshall... he was amazing with the seniors, so kind and patient. What a great job he does and it's obvious he enjoys doing it!  The food was fantastic and I heard about it all the way home, they all said they would definitely be returning for a nine and dine : )

What a day thanks again!!!

Sandy:

Good afternoon Sandy, I am pleased to share this review of your course which can be found on my blog, www.36aday.net As a long time player and fan of Lowville I hope you find this fair, constructive and representative of the experiences others have had at Lowville. I really like your course and try to convey that in a fair and objective manner. I've played three times this year and expect to be back again before the snow flies, besides, my favorite time of year to play there will be in a couple weeks when the leaves are at their peak. I hope it has been a good season for you all. If you feel this to be a favorable post, I would hope you may consider sharing it with members and others. http://36aday.net/2014/09/25/lowville-golf-club-burlingtons-best-public-course/ PS - The reservoir construction has framed 14 beautifully. That hole has been strengthened considerably in my opinion.
